Happy New Year!
I entered 2016 very differently than I expected. I entered as a separated woman, there it is, I said it. My husband and I have been separated since Nov. 2015 and although I did not expect to be sharing this here on my blog, I felt the need to get it out. I believe that God created me to be transparent, and at this point in my life I just want to live in my full purpose. This blog has served as a great space for me to be open and honest about a ton of things and one thing I thank God for is this journey and this process and this platform to share it on. Although life is a little "interesting" right now, I must admit that I am learning so much about myself during this time. That's a blessing in itself! I have been married since August 31, 2013 and this is our 2nd separation and I have no idea what God is up to in my life but what I know for sure is that HE is up to something. GLORY!!!!
A very good friend is reading this book Single, Married, Separated, & Life After Divorce by Myles Munroe and he recently has been encouraging me to read it. He sent me the encouraging words below via text and it helped me tremendously!!! Needless to say, I'm getting this book asap!
"It's time to do some serious soul searching to really tap into what it is that God placed us here on earth for. And contrary to what the world will have us think it's not JUST to be married, nor have kids, nor work unfulfilling jobs. It's something greater that precedes all of that. It's singleness, which is being in such a state of completion (a state that only can be achieved by knowing and pursuing God's purpose for you in life) that wedlock, parenthood and worldly success isn't even in/on our mind. Instead, the only thing that is, is God's will and the calling He has placed on our life. And as we truly grow towards seeking first The Kingdom all those other things will pursue us. And then and only then will we be in a state that we're even ready to receive them. A state of completion. All too often we are incomplete individuals joining together in "boo-dom" or marriage and thinking this union is somehow going to magically fix us. Or that it will somehow provide us with the completion we've been seeking all of our lives. But the truth of the matter is you can't look for another person to complete you. You have to come into the union already single; separate, whole and unique and join these two single individuals together as one, united under God in order to have a truly successful and God filled marriage. In the book they use the analogy that an omelette is only as good as its eggs. So don't trip on seemingly failed relationships nor marriages. But instead look at the space and place God has allowed you to be in currently as the opportunity to get so in tune with Him and His plans for you that the next time around, with whomever God presents before you, YOU will have yourself together to the point where whoever steps to you better step correct because as we all know it only takes one bad egg to spoil an omelette. Just a little food for thought. Nothing major."
He said Nothing major at the end but this was OH SO MAJOR!!!!
This is my first post of 2016 and my prayer is that every post will become more honest and more transparent as we move into the year. I believe that we often forget the power of transparency. Nowadays, everyone is ready for the testimony and the "how I made it over" post, but what about the moments when you are knee deep in it? Can you still smile? Can you still be thankful? Can you still have joy? I am living and breathing this thing right now and it's not easy but it's worth it. I push pass my sadness and all of my emotions all of the time because God is STILL God and I am determined to ENJOY life even if it's not exactly how I planned it because as Proverbs 19:21 reminds us, "Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." Amen.
